Professional Services
- Consultancy Services:
My research centers on the intersection of technology and society, particularly the unintended societal consequences of technology. Currently, I am engaged in a collaboration with Lero , the Science Foundation Ireland Research Centre for Software, where I provide guidance on the Responsible Software Engineering (RSE) project.
In this role, I advise on the RSE practices in software teams who are using artificial intelligence to develop software for a commercial partner (name anonymized). My responsibilities include addressing ethical and societal implications of software development. The collaboration aligns with my primary focus under the SAUSE grant at The Open University, aiming to pursue a joint research grant. - Evaluation Lead:
As the Evaluation Lead for the Pan-Wales Microcredential project, I collaborated with all Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) in Wales, guiding and evaluating microcredential delivery.
My managerial role involved effective communication with internal and external stakeholders. The evidence-based study with learners and microcredential providers informed the OU's Board of Studies about future strategies and assisted HEIs in identifying areas of improvement. Additionally, I collaborated with Cardiff Council's Education Department to enhance teachers' digital capabilities in alignment with the new STEM curriculum. - Meeting Chair:
I chair and organize group meetings for the Software Engineering and Design Lab, overseeing discussions with internal and external speakers. - External Talks:
I've shared my research with both experts and the public, presenting at international software conferences with experts in the audience, and at public events such as the Institute of Coding Workshop and OU Research & Societal Impact Showcase. I've delivered guest lectures at institutions like Vienna University of Technology and University College Cork. As a member of the Digital Policy Alliance at The OU, I led discussions on Software for people by people with policymakers. - Program Committees:
I have been invited to join program committees for top software engineering conferences, with recent appointments including CHASE 2023, CHASE 2024 and RE24. Previous appointments include: EDCC2020, KMOTS2019, FM&MDD 2017, ICET2014, CIW 2014, ICIW 2013, COMPSAC 2012, REST 2011, NSEC 2010 - Journal Reviewing:
